Here we know the colourful Golden Everlasting above all as a dried flower and a cut flower. Its spherical, daisy-type flowers seem so at home in our cottage gardens that you’d never guess this plant had travelled so far to get to Europe – yet in fact it originally comes from Australia, where it can still be found in many places growing in the wild. Golden Everlasting is very undemanding and low-maintenance, and can be grown in flower beds or pots. To use the blooms as dried flowers you should cut them when in bud then hang them upside down to dry in a dark, cool and well-ventilated place. This will ensure that they keep their wonderful luminous colours when dry. The flowers will open later, entirely of their own accord.
