'Sima' is a winter pea variety, meaning it is sown late in the year, from mid-October to early November. This allows for the harvesting of fresh peas early in the following year. The seeds germinate at temperatures above +5°C. The smaller they remain, the better for overwintering. Therefore, sowing should not be done too early. Especially in harsh locations, the small young plants should be protected with brushwood or pine branches. Depending on the weather, the small plants start growing as soon as mild spring-like weather sets in, allowing the first peas to be harvested as early as May the following year. 'Sima' is a low-growing, white-flowering variety that does not require support. The peas are eaten young as shelling peas and are not suitable for drying.
